Paul Krugman is an American economist, professor of economics at Princeton University, and a columnist for The New York Times. He was born in Albany, New York, on February 28, 1953, and grew up in Nassau County. Krugman graduated from John F. Kennedy High School in Bellmore. He received a B.A. from Yale University in 1974 and a Ph.D. from MIT in 1977. Krugman is a leading liberal voice in American policy debate and has been labelled one of the most influential academic thinkers in America. In 2008, he was awarded the Nobel Prize for economics in recognition of his work on international trade theory and economic geography.
