Lisa Lutz is an American New York Times bestselling author who has written several highly successful books in the genres of crime comedy and fiction. She began her career in Hollywood, writing screenplays, one of which was rejected and used as the basis for her novel series. To everyone's surprise, the series became a bestseller and helped Lutz establish herself as a prominent author. The series was based on a private investigator family known as the Spellmans. Lutz was born on March 13, 1970 in Southern California, United States. She attended a number of universities, including UC Irvine, Leeds University, UC Santa Cruz in England, and San Francisco University in the United States, but did not obtain a degree.
