Lang Leav is a bestselling contemporary poet and writer from New Zealand. Born in a refugee camp in Thailand in September 1980, she and her family fled the Khmer Rouge regime in Cambodia. The second youngest of three siblings, they migrated to Australia in 1981. Growing up in Cabramatta Sydney, her father was an acupuncturist and her mother a seamstress. From a young age, Leav had an interest in literature, writing poetry and creating handmade books to share with her peers at school. Leav is also known for her fashion line, Akina, which has received commercial and critical success. Stocked in key boutiques around Australia and Harajuku Japan, the gothic and oriental inspired line has been a success. In 2013, Leav chose to return to writing, self-publishing prose and poetry.
